Reflection on TMA07….

Have been moving house this week and its been a nightmare – but have had a bit of time to review the feedback i got for my TMA07 (EBI) assignment.  Just wanted to capture some learning here before moving on to exam preparation!

key learning points:

– tutor mentioned a ‘personal PESTLE’, must ask him to explain a bit more.

– staff turnover should always be considered as a risk in my job!

– the OGC ‘common reasons for project failure’ framework provides a good ‘left hand column’ when creating a risk register*

– trusting change management frameworks as a way to surface the wider issues surrounding a problem is the way forward*

– use risk registers more from now on – review them on a regular basis because things constantly change*

– know your people, stakeholder management is a great tool*

– be mindful of my own communication; if/when i’m doing it, the words i use, how they might affect others, doing it too much, the message i might be conveying*

– trusted ‘others’ are a fantastic learning tool use them when you need to having done as much as you can first – don’t fall into the ‘culture trap’  – asking for help is intelligent not something that signifies incompetence!*

A great TMA for my own learning and really helped me to pull the year together – even if I did put a diagram in upside down 🙂

Thanks again to everyone that offered advice.
